October was a very gently month with mild temperatures and a soft breeze, this has relaxed body and mind.
It all started having a wonderful experience of singing in a recording studio in Canterbury with my fellow figureheads. We have all come so far with our confidence and ability. It is something I could never have dreamed of doing!
The news also broke to the wider family that my youngest daughter is expecting her second baby which is beautiful news. It prompted some of the first family ‘roasts’. We could definitely compete in a Yorkshire pudding competition. Being with my grandsons and watching my daughters with them accesses a love I never knew existed until they arrived.
In other news I’m having a real sense and need to clear space and let things go. The sense of letting go became much stronger after celebrating the full Hunter moon, I spent the evening sitting around a tire on the beach after another-worldly sunset at low tide.
I want to create a space upstairs to paint and retreat to, which means getting this congested space clear. I need to keep select pieces and let the rest go!
I’ve been enjoying the enquiry as to why I have had this need for the things around me also why the need to get rid of it to feel lighter – freer maybe?
A new linocut arrived this month. It will take its time to settle in with me and I am aware that this is a part of the process. It was very well received at the pop up in The Show Off Gallery in Whitstable.
Our return to Whitstable was the third year that we have taken the space at The Show Off Gallery. While it is only a short hop down the road for us from Herne Bay, it has a very different energy and the reception is always so encouraging with new eyes looking at the work.
New work is still moving around my mind waiting patiently…
